Description: In recent decades, we have witnessed the rise of the information age, where controlling the narrative has become more complex than ever before. Sebastian J. Bae, Emily Yoder, Grace Hwang, and Jared Cooper designed Malign, a card-driven educational game with rigid rules, to have players grapple with the pernicious effects of malign influence, such as disinformation, to understand different ways that malign influence can take shape, and how we may build resiliency to its effects. This presentation will provide an overview of Malign and its objectives, game design process, and game mechanics.
